WHAT IS URINARY TRACT INFECTION (UTI)?

How careful are we after using the toilet, and after sexual Intercourse?? Remember, in females, the urethral is much shorter and closer to the Anus, and this makes female to be more prone to URINARY TRACT INFECTION.

So, to prevent this, we should always wipe from front to back, and to at least urinate within 30mins after sexual Intercourse.

Today, I will like to discuss with us URINARY TRACT INFECTION (UTI). It Is One Of The causes of Chronic kidney disease,it doesn't only affects the females, but both males and females, although females have the higher percentage.

URINARY TRACT INFECTION

This Is an infection that affects part of the urinary tract. When it affects the lower urinary tract it is known as a bladder infection (Cystitis) and when it affects the upper urinary track it is known as kidney infection (pyelonephritis).

SYMPTOMS FROM A LOWER URINARY TRACT INCLUDE :

  •   Pain with urination
  •   Frequent urination
  •   Feeling the need to urinate despite having an empty bladder.

SYMPTOMS OF A KIDNEY INFECTION INCLUDE :

Fever and flank pain usually in addition to the symptoms of a lower UTI.

CAUSE

Usually 80-85% is mostly caused by Escherichia coli (E. Coli) ;is the name of a germ or bacterium.

RISK FACTORS

1: Female anatomy (in females, urethra is much shorter and closer to the anus.)

 2: Sexual Intercourse

 3: Diabetes

 4: Obesity

 5: Not drinking enough water

 6: Delay urination

 7: Family history.

WAYS OF PREVENTING URINARY TRACT INFECTION

1 : Drink a lot of water daily.
